Participating Departments and Units:
The Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research (The Donnelly Centre) is a unique centre in which investigators from the Faculties of Medicine, Applied Sciences & Engineering, Pharmacy and Arts & Science are brought together in an open, think-tank environment. Since its inception in 2005, the 34 principal investigators and their staff have been relocated from various academic units or hired through external recruitment.
Recently, the Faculty of Medicine recommended that the Donnelly Centre, as a world-leading centre for interdisciplinary biomedical research, would be best served by a streamlined administrative structure that allows primary appointments within the Centre. On July 1, 2010, the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular research was established as an Extra-Departmental Unit: A. As an EDU-A, primary faculty appointments are now made by the Centre and the teaching mission of the unit can evolve.
Under the EDU-A agreement the Faculties of Medicine and Applied Science and Engineering are known as the "Partners" or "Partner Faculties". The Faculties of Pharmacy and Arts & Science are "Associate Partners".
Partner Faculties have Donnelly members from the following departments:
Faculty of Medicine
Faculty of Applied Sciences & Engineering
Associate Partners have Donnelly members from the following departments:
Faculty of Arts & Science
